Add people by profile link or import a list

Add people to an account by pasting LinkedIn profile links, or import a CSV list with names, companies and emails.

Besides running a search, there are two ways to put people on the People page of an account. Both are buttons in the header of that page.

Add by profile link

  1. Open People and press Add by profile link.
  2. Paste one LinkedIn profile link per line. A profile link contains linkedin.com/in/.
  3. If you want, choose a workflow under Start a workflow for them (optional).
  4. Press Add people.

Someone who is already on the page is not added twice. A new person's name and headline are filled in the first time their profile is visited. Lines that are not profile links are listed afterwards, and nobody is added for them.

Import a list

A list is a spreadsheet saved as CSV, with one person per row and a header row that names the columns: name, company, email and LinkedIn profile link. For example:

name,company,email,linkedin

A list can have up to 2,000 rows, and a file can be up to 2 MB.

  1. Open People and press Import a list.
  2. Press Choose a CSV file, or paste the rows into the box under it.
  3. Check the preview. It says how many rows were read and which columns were found, and shows the first 5 rows.
  4. If you want, choose a workflow under Start a workflow for the people in the list (optional).
  5. Press the Import button.

How rows are matched

  • Each row is matched to someone already on the page by profile link, or by exact name and company, and their email is saved.
  • A row that matches no one adds a new person only when it has a profile link.
  • A row with a broken email address is left out whole, so you can fix it and import it again.

When the import is done, a summary shows how many rows matched, how many people were added and how many emails were saved. Rows that were left out are listed with the reason and their row number in your spreadsheet. People already imported are not added twice, so you can import the corrected list again.

Where emails come from

Email steps need an email address. An address reaches a person in one of three ways:

  • from a list you import,
  • typed in by you: press the pencil at the end of a person's row, fill in Email and press Save,
  • from the contact details a connection shows on LinkedIn, which NurtureLead reads when an email step is due for them.

The pencil also lets you correct a person's name, first name and company. The first name fills {first} and the company fills {company} in messages.

Actions on selected people

Tick one or more rows to get Start a workflow, Skip, Remove from workflow and Delete. Someone who has already been invited or is connected is not deleted: they are kept as the record of what was sent.
