A workflow is the list of steps one person goes through, such as a connection request, a wait and a message. Each LinkedIn account has its own workflows.
The starter workflows
A new account comes with two workflows on the Workflows page:
- Connect only sends a connection request and stops.
- Outreach: connect, warm up, follow up sends a connection request and waits up to 5 days for the person to accept. People who accepted get a message, a like, a skill endorsement and a follow-up message, with waits between them. People who did not accept get a like and a wait of up to 7 days; if they accept in that time, they get the first message.
You can use them as they are, press Edit to change them, or press Duplicate to work on a copy.
The follow-up message in the second workflow uses {calendar}, your scheduling link. Set that link first, under Your details used in messages on the Limits and settings page. A message whose field has nothing to fill it is not sent: it waits for you.
Build one on the canvas
- On Workflows, press New workflow. The workflow builder opens.
- Type a name in the name field at the top.
- Add steps: drag a module from the Modules list onto a + on the canvas, or click a + and choose a step.
- Click a step to edit it in its settings panel: the message, the note for a connection request, or how long a wait lasts.
- Press Save workflow.
The builder checks the workflow as you write and again when you save. An empty message, an unknown field or a note that is too long is shown on the step it belongs to. A workflow can have up to 60 steps.
Start it for people
- Open People.
- Tick the people you want.
- Choose the workflow next to Start a workflow and press the Start for button beside it.
To start it for everyone who is a new match, press Start for every new match and pick the workflow there.
Everyone starts at the first step. Someone who is already in a workflow, or who has already replied, is left as they are.
Switch the account on
Nothing is sent until the account is running. Press Start in the header of the app, or on the banner on the Home page.
From then on, steps run one at a time, inside your working hours and daily limits. The Active page shows who is on which step and when the step is due.
