An audience is a saved LinkedIn people search. You fill it in on the Search page, save it and run it. The people it finds go to the People page.
Searches use normal LinkedIn people search, also on Sales Navigator and Recruiter accounts.
Create an audience from the form
- Open Search and press New audience.
- Type an Audience name.
- Fill in at least one of Keywords, Title and Company. In Title you can give alternatives with OR, for example
VP Operations OR Director of Operations. - Choose a Location if you want one. The list holds eight countries. For any other place, use a pasted link, as described below.
- Next to Connection degree, tick 2nd, 3rd or both.
- Press Create audience.
Or paste a LinkedIn search link
- On LinkedIn, run a people search and set the filters you want.
- Copy the address from your browser.
- Paste it into LinkedIn search link and save the audience.
While a link is filled in, it is used instead of the fields above it. The link has to be a normal LinkedIn people search: its address contains linkedin.com/search/results/people. Links to Sales Navigator or Recruiter searches are not accepted.
Say who counts as a match
Under Who counts as a match, two fields are checked against each person's headline. Separate the words with commas.
- Include words: the headline must contain one of them. Leave the field blank and everyone matches.
- Exclude words: a headline with one of these is never a match. Those people are kept, but not as matches.
Run the audience
- Pick Pages to read: 1, 3, 5 or 10. Each page holds 10 people.
- Press Run.
The search shows under Jobs with its progress, and you can cancel it there. A finished job shows how many people it found and how many of them are new.
The next run carries on from the page where the last one stopped, unless you tick Start from page 1. Editing an audience starts it again from page 1.
Search pages have a daily limit of their own, Search pages read, on the Limits and settings page. When it is reached, the job stops with the tag Daily limit reached.
What happens next
New matches show on the People page with the status New match. From there you start a workflow for them, as described in Build your first workflow.
You can also add people without a search: see Add people by profile link or import a list.
