The knowledge base holds the facts the AI may use in a reply. Voice samples show it how you write. Both are set for each LinkedIn account, on the Knowledge and voice tab of the AI and goals page.
What the knowledge base is for
The AI answers from your knowledge base and your instructions, and nothing else. If someone asks for something those do not cover, the AI does not guess: it hands the conversation to you and says what was asked.
Two rules follow from that:
- Prices. The AI states a price only if it is in the knowledge base, exactly as written there. It does not negotiate. Questions about price negotiation or terms are handed to you.
- Links. The AI never writes a link of its own. It can share a link that is in the knowledge base, exactly as written, and the links from your settings.
Add an entry
- Open AI and goals and press the Knowledge and voice tab.
- Under Add knowledge, choose a Type: Fact, Offer, Price, Faq, Link or Document.
- Type a Title, for example the question the entry answers.
- Type the Content.
- Press Add to knowledge base.
An entry holds up to 4,000 characters, and the knowledge base holds up to 200 entries. A Link entry needs an address that starts with https://.
Use Edit and Delete in the list to change or remove an entry. A deleted entry can no longer be used by the AI.
Add a document
Press Upload a text file and choose a text file. Its text goes into the form as a Document entry. Only the first 4,000 characters are put in, so split a long document into several entries.
Voice samples
A voice sample is something you wrote. The AI writes replies in the same voice: the tone, the length and the habits of your examples.
- On the Knowledge and voice tab, find Voice samples.
- Press Add a sample and paste something you wrote, up to 1,000 characters.
- Or press Pick from past messages and press Use next to a message. The list shows messages you wrote yourself, in the app or on LinkedIn.
An account keeps up to 20 samples. Delete a sample with Delete on its card.
Each account has its own
Knowledge and voice belong to one LinkedIn account. If you run several accounts, set them up for each one. The line at the top of the page says which account you are looking at.
Check the result
The Try it card on the Goal and playbook tab answers a made-up message with what is saved. Ask it something that is in your knowledge base, and something that is not, to see both an answer and a handoff.
