What happens when someone replies

A reply stops that person's workflow, moves the conversation to the Inbox and hands it to the AI to draft an answer.

One rule sits outside every workflow: the moment someone replies, their workflow stops and the conversation moves to the Inbox. From there, the AI and you take over.

What happens, in order

  1. NurtureLead sees the reply.
  2. That person's workflow stops. Anything still waiting to go out to them is cancelled.
  3. The conversation appears in the Inbox.
  4. The AI reads the whole conversation and drafts an answer.

What the AI does with its draft depends on the reply mode of the account:

  • Drafts I approve: the draft waits in the Inbox under Needs you, and you get the alert A reply is waiting for you.
  • Auto replies: the reply goes out by itself after the reply delay. A reply that is flagged still waits for you.

The AI can also hand the conversation to you without a draft, and says why. And when someone says no, it closes the conversation.

How a reply is seen

  • On LinkedIn: the account checks its LinkedIn messages on a schedule, while it is running and inside working hours. You set how often with the Inbox check every slider on the Limits and settings page. It also looks at the conversation just before it sends a workflow message, so a message is not sent on top of a reply.
  • By email: replies to your email steps are read from a mailbox that is connected with reading. Automatic answers, such as out-of-office messages, are not treated as replies.

If your Gmail mailbox is connected for sending only, replies by email are not seen. They arrive in Gmail as usual, and the workflow does not stop by itself. Check that mailbox, and remove anyone who answers from the workflow on the Active page.

After the answer goes out

The conversation waits for the other person. If they stay quiet for the number of days set in Nudge after quiet for, the AI writes a follow-up nudge. It does this up to the number in Maximum nudges. After that, the conversation is closed.

A new reply at any point starts the same handoff again.

Messages you send yourself

If you write to the person on LinkedIn yourself, NurtureLead picks that message up the next time it reads the conversation. The Inbox and the AI then see the whole exchange.

Put someone back in a workflow

  1. Open the conversation in the Inbox.
  2. Under Put back in a workflow, choose the workflow.
  3. Press Put back.

The person starts at the first step. A new reply stops the workflow again.
